The Cornstalk Hotel, located in New Orleans, LA, is known for the historic, cast iron cornstalk fence that surrounds it. It was the home of the first Chief Justice of the Louisana Supreme Court, and helped inspire Harriet Beecher Stowe to write Uncle Tom's Cabin. The cornstalk fence was built to assuage the homesickness of a young woman from Iowa, who was brought to the French Quarter by her husband.
