Trinity Church, located in Portsmouth, Virginia, is an historical landmark that played an important religious role throughout history. Part of the original plan by Portsmouth's founder, the church was used during the American Revolution, and even occupied by the British at one time. During the civil war, Confederate soldiers worshiped and prepared themselves for fighting Union soldiers. Today, the church sits along Portsmouth's major artery, across from the city's Visual Arts Center.
